In the middle of the shopping hustle and bustle on the 2nd floor you will find the Altona Book Hall.

Here you can borrow books, magazines, CDs and DVDs as you wish. Children and young people browse through age-appropriate non-fiction books, stories, children’s DVDs, CD-ROMS and audio books. Adults will find lots of entertaining literature here, from classics to fantasy novels, as well as foreign language books in Turkish, English, French and Spanish. We offer you daily and weekly newspapers, as well as around 70 magazine subscriptions in the areas of home & hobbies, family & leisure, computers, music & film, art & culture and politics & business.

The non-fiction section provides detailed information about all areas of knowledge and has a lot available for schools, training and further education and studies. Current advice literature, e.g. from the areas of law and medicine and many media for leisure activities, such as cooking, traveling and sports, complement our range of products suitable for everyone.

When it comes to music CDs, the Altona library has a superlative: its collection is the largest of all Hamburg district libraries. Jazz, new music, world music and pop are the hits here. Our media is available to you in the library rooms free of charge and without registration. To borrow, you need a customer card, which you can easily get from us at any time. Please bring your ID card or passport with registration confirmation.

We are looking forward to your visit!
